Central Florida’s signature arts event returns for its 8th year to the heart of Downtown Orlando as The Creative City Project presents “IMMERSE 2019” on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19. In partnership with the 2019 presenting sponsor, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, IMMERSE is the annual performing and interactive arts experience from The Creative City Project. This year’s event platforms more than 1,000 artists from 140 arts organizations and artist collectives in the streets and public spaces of Downtown Orlando along Orange Avenue, Church Street and Pine Street on Friday and Saturday from 5pm-11pm, with installations opening at 3pm on Saturday. This year, IMMERSE will also include activations at Seneff Plaza at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. New performances and interactive installations from across the US and abroad make IMMERSE 2019 more exciting than ever.
“We’re committed to making IMMERSE a destination event for people from around the world, and we also want IMMERSE to be an event that makes us Orlando residents proud,” says Creative City Project Executive Director Cole NeSmith. “We love collaborating with artists to create innovative arts experiences audiences can’t have anywhere else in the world. Year after year, we have the opportunity to partner with Central Florida arts organizations to create unique performances, and in 2019, we’re excited to also partner with national and international organizations like Blue Man Group, Diavolo and Architects of Air.”
IMMERSE 2019 features new acts and installations:
-International entertainment phenomenon “Blue Man Group” performing on Saturday, October 19.
-Large-scale inflatable environments “The Architects of Air” open Friday, October 18-Sunday, October 27.
-American’s Got Talent Top 10 finalist “Diavolo” performing on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19.
In addition, IMMERSE 2019 will also feature new versions of two of last year’s most popular experiences: The Immersive Photo Experience “The Worlds of Corkcicle” and The OUC Lights.
This year’s performance highlights include: Original content from Orlando Ballet, The Central Florida Community Arts Jazz Band, Opera Orlando, cultural performances, the creation of live murals and a special collaboration between Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras and Creative City Project called “Orchestrate”.
“We want artists and audiences to have the most amazing experiences of their lives, so we’re always considering how we can collaborate with artists to do something new and unique,” says NeSmith. “‘Orchestrate’ is a fantastic example of multiple arts organizations coming together to create something truly unique and meaningful. I think it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the artists and bands who are selected to participate.”
Creative City Project’s commitment to “shape the global perception of Orlando as a city known for creativity and innovation” also expands in 2019 with the IMMERSE Innovation Expo. This public-facing expo features demos of innovations in art and technology that will inspire wonder in guests.

About The Creative City Project
Creative City Project began in 2012 as a group of artists performing on street corners and in plazas around Downtown Orlando. The event was renamed IMMERSE at the beginning of 2017. Its mission is three-fold: To cultivate a thriving arts community in Central Florida, to nurture a deeper sense of ownership of and care for Orlando amongst its residents and to shape the global perception of The City Beautiful as one known for innovation and creativity. In addition to IMMERSE, Creative City Project is committed to helping guests live a life of creativity and adventure by connecting them with meaningful arts experiences throughout the year. Each Monday, Creative City Project releases “This Week In Art” video series highlighting interesting arts events happening across Central Florida that week. Additionally, Creative City Project hosts a weekly podcast called “Artrepreneur” focused on helping artists make creativity their career.
