The Gates Hotel South Beach perfectly captures the style that is synonymous with South Beach. The artistic vibe of South Beach permeates the hotel right down to the furniture and artwork in the rooms, to the touches in the lobby and on the pool deck.
When you walk into the expansive lobby of The Gates, it is immediately inviting. The open space is utilized well and cleverly designed with plenty of modern leisure areas for meeting other guests. The popular lobby bar is centrally located in the hotel as well. What a way to welcome you to South Beach! There’s even a “Grab and Go” section in the lobby – perfect to grab a snack on the way out the door before you cruise the streets of South Beach. All of these amenities and more are within the open floor plan of the lobby.
The pool deck, glittered with sun loungers and sexy cabanas, also includes a foos ball table to satisfy your inner playfulness. The huge pool deck captures the South Florida sun in such a way that you’ll be sure to take plenty home with you. Although the beach is mere moments away, it is tempting to never leave the poolside.
Walk around the side of the hotel from the pool deck, and you’ll find the enticing Jacuzzi. While soaking in the hot water, the coastal breeze off the Atlantic will keep you cool while you’re relaxing. Speaking of the Atlantic, the beach is only a few minutes away, but there’s no need for you to walk there. Simply call the front desk so you can hop aboard one of the Gates’ very own tuk-tuks.
Among the many treats the Gates offers, there is a fitness center with free weights, medicine balls, and more. There are three meetings rooms and a business center as well. The Concierge desk located in the lobby will help you decide what shops to check out on nearby Lincoln Road. In fact, the location of the Gates is optimum – directly across from the Atlantic and not far from Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road.
The Gates boasts a lobby bar, poolside food and drinks, room dining, and the Continental Restaurant. The trendy pool bar, similar to the lobby bar, is a great place to unwind in the late afternoon.
The Continental, which is adjacent to the Gates, offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a very popular weekend brunch. If you prefer to sit outside, there is plenty of outdoor seating as well. Similar to most, we can’t get enough of the architectural and artistic gems that line South Beach – the majority of which are Art Deco. However, the retro decor of the Continental is mid-century modern, which we found fabulous.
Recently, mid-century modern has been a much sought after design in both architecture and decor. Of course, like the heart beat of South Beach, the Gates is on the cutting edge of art and design concepts – which you can enjoy throughout your stay.
Our room, full of ultra-chic decor, was respite from all the action on South Beach. The spacious living room was separate from the bedroom, which is definitely a bonus. The modernity of the amenities is impressive. The decor of the room was artwork in and of itself, but not at the sacrifice of comfort. There is an ergonomic chair and spacious work desk. A 42” inch HD TV graced the wall of both the bedroom and living room.
Beyond the in-room amenities, the photographs that dazzle the wall are fabulous. Whether you’ve come to South Beach for business or pleasure, the room will encourage your inner fashionista – if you’re just donning your swimsuit to the pool or getting ready for a night out on South Beach. When booking your room, you have the option of a private patio or balcony, as well as city or water views. Your options are plentiful.
Overall, our room was modern, sleek, and soothing. Everything fit smoothly and flowed – the living room, bed room, closet area, and bathroom. Even the closet area was clever and elegant in design and function, which is a welcome change from many hotels. The Gates will tantalize you with thoughtful touches throughout the entire property. That is what sets this hotel apart from the rest. You’ve come to South Beach to revel in all it has to offer, so stay in style at The Gates Hotel South Beach.
