Our suite was located on the 5th floor, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. We stayed in an Oceanfront Suite. This room is the pièce de résistance of the Ocean Key Resort – truly an outstanding suite. The stunning living area and bedroom offer sweeping views of the Gulf. In addition, the sliding doors to the bathroom may be opened revealing a view of the water. The vibrant colors, stylish décor, and luxurious furnishings enhance your enjoyment of the opulent suite.
Walking into the suite, we were astounded. There’s beautiful vaulted ceilings. A chandelier (slightly reminiscent of Pauline Hemingway’s chandeliers down the street at the Ernest Hemingway Home), hangs over the dining table. The island inspired furnishings are perfectly set. French doors open out onto the balcony, where you can relax and enjoy an in-room dining experience.
The bedroom is a wispy romantic dream with vaulted ceilings, generating a lofty, ethereal feel; combined with bright, colorful pillows and white sheers on the windows that dance in the ocean breeze. Relish a perfect afternoon spent soaking in your jacuzzi, with an optional open view of the bedroom, enabling a direct shot of the second flat screen in the suite.
This Oceanfront Suite is an oasis in the heart of Key West.
Dining: Hot Tin Roof
We were greeted by lovely and attentive staff at the Hot Tin Roof. With the ocean breeze and the sunset afterglow, we were spellbound by the ambiance of this charming restaurant.
For Starters, we ordered two small plates: Chorizo and Mussels. The Mussels were served in a flavorsome broth with Cajun Sofrito and Olive Oil. The Chorizo, with Manchego and Pico de Gallo, was braised and accompanied with Crispy Shells on the side.
After hearing about the special from our affable server Vadim, we chose to indulge in the choice selection of Filet Mignon, Scallops, Shrimp, and Broiled Lobster for two, accompanied with a side of Truffle Potatoes. The Filet Mignon was tender and cooked to perfection. The Seafood was resplendent and fresh.
Additionally, we tried the Scallop Risotto which came with Tasso Ham, Poblano Tetilla Cheese, Fresno Chile, and Garlic. The creamy Risotto paired wonderfully with the fresh Scallops.
Sitting outside, overlooking the water with sailboats passing, we were enchanted by the entire scene.
State of the art SpaTerre is a welcome retreat to any vacation in the Keys. SpaTerre provides a vast array of services, including facials, manicures, pedicures, massage therapies, and more. Some of the massage therapies include: Sacred Stone, Balinese, Sports/Deep Tissue, Table Thai Massage, among many others. There is also a private couple’s room.
Beth welcomed us to SpaTerre with a fruit-infused beverage and an option of Mimosa or Champagne. We reserved a Sacred Stone Massage. We were warmly greeted by Judy – our talented masseuse. She was highly knowledgable, particularly about the Hot Stone Massage process and the Spa itself. Make a reservation to be pampered at SpaTerre. No matter what service you choose, we are sure that you will be delighted with the experience.
